Specialist/REACH Site Coordinator

Position Overview REACH (Recreation and Education Accelerating Children’s Hopes) is a grant‑funded after‑school program in partnership with the El Rancho Unified School District (ERUSD). The program is designed to enhance students’ academic performance, reduce absenteeism, provide homework assistance, offer mentoring, and deliver performing‑arts and recreational activities in a safe, supervised environment. Work Schedule Monday to Friday, 1:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. (Week‑day Wednesday: 12:00 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.). The schedule follows the ERUSD calendar, including school holidays, furlough days and recesses. Essential Duties Supervise and ensure the safety of children in programs at all times. Plan, organize, and supervise program activities. Effectively supervise classroom leaders and foster a teamwork environment. Lead, coach, instruct, and motivate classroom leaders, providing clear work instruction. Train and supervise classroom leaders on developing and implementing program‑specific activities. Facilitate the LitART Literacy Curriculum, including literacy, math, enrichment, recreational and homework support activities. Apply positive classroom management/PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) and discipline techniques. Communicate regularly with school principal, teachers, parents, community and peers. Manage program logistics such as collection of student data and attendance records. Assist the supervisor and coordinator with program evaluation activities. Maintain monthly staff evaluations and provide continuous feedback to staff and supervisors. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent and either two (2) years of college coursework (48 semester units or 60 quarter units) or an Associate’s (AA) degree or higher. Experience working in a related field is desirable. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Excellent written communication skills. Skill in dealing tactfully, courteously and effectively with public officials, program participants and the general public. Ability to plan, organize and implement programming with minimal supervision. General operating knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Bilingual in English/Spanish is desired. Physical, Mental, and Environmental Working Conditions Requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements. Requires near and far visual acuity and the ability to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. Employees may work outdoors and could be exposed to loud noises and extreme weather conditions. Additional Employment Information Position is temporary hourly (up to 28 hours/week) and at‑will. Employees are not eligible for the regular, permanent employment service of the City and do not receive medical benefits.
