Associate, Child & Family Development

The Associate, Child and Family Development performs duties necessary to teach and care for infant through twelve-year-old children, provides support and constant communication with families, and serves as a model for college students, specifically in Child and Family Development. Operate a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom using a constructivist curriculum and environment based on licensing regulations and accreditation standards Supervise students, work study students, childcare attendants, therapists, and observers in the classroom in the absence of the Child and Family Development (CFD) Specialist Welcome and invite college students to be a part of the Child Development Laboratory Center (CDLC) community Model developmentally appropriate practice in the classroom and coach students during practicum time Observe and record development for individual children and support the CFD Specialist in creating individual goals and curriculum Maintain records for children's and classroom curriculum, and coordinate resources for children with special needs Develop and maintain rapport and trust with families, and attend developmental, transition, and exit conferences as needed Participate in educational parent meetings, CDLC Parent Advisory Council, STLCC, campus, and community events Additional Duties Additional duties as assigned Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of related full-time experience Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood, Child and Family Development, or a related field with 1 year of full-time or 2 years of part-time experience in a licensed childcare center Must clear Family Care Safety Registry and fingerprinting, complete Hepatitis A Immunization series Must maintain current CPR, pediatric first aid, and medication administration training Work Environment Work is performed in the Child Development Laboratory Center and may work in any one of the classrooms within the center Occasionally exposed to bodily fluids and cleaning agents Physical Requirements: Constantly required to lift up to 50 pounds Constantly required to move quickly up and down off the floor Regularly required to lift items overhead, bend, and stoop #J-18808-Ljbffr St. Louis Community College
