Senior Cost AccountantSalary: $115K–$135KLocation: Athol, MAWhy This Opportunity Stands Out:Join a reputable manufacturing company specializing in complex aerospace, defense, submarine, and precision-engineered productsPlay an integral role in project accounting, with roughly 50% of responsibilities dedicated to percentage-of-completion revenue recognitionCollaborate closely with senior finance leadership and manufacturing operations on key financial initiativesDevelop a deeper understanding of contract manufacturing, production costs, and project profitabilityHelp drive improvements in financial processes, cost analysis, and operational reportingPosition yourself for continued professional growth within an evolving accounting and finance departmentSenior Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities:Oversee cost accounting and financial tracking for specialized manufacturing contracts and projectsCalculate and record percentage-of-completion revenue under ASC 606 guidelinesEvaluate WIP balances, direct labor, material costs, and production-related variancesWork alongside production teams to assess project spending, margins, and overall financial performanceAnalyze financial statements and ensure accurate recognition of manufacturing costs and revenueContribute to monthly closing activities, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reportingRecommend enhancements to accounting procedures, cost controls, and reporting efficienciesQualifications of the Senior Cost Accountant:Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years focused on manufacturing or cost accountingBachelor's degree in Accounting requiredDemonstrated knowledge of job costing, contract accounting, or project-based manufacturing environmentsFamiliarity with ASC 606 and hands-on percentage-of-completion revenue recognition highly desirableStrong foundation in GAAP, financial statement analysis, and manufacturing accounting practicesExperience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, or custom production operations preferredExcellent problem-solving abilities, strong Excel proficiency, and confidence working across accounting and operational teams
