Intellectual Property Attorney for AI Model Training

Join an innovative initiative to create realistic enterprise environments for training and evaluating frontier AI agents. As an experienced intellectual-property attorney, you will leverage your expertise to build a high-fidelity digital workspace that mirrors the tools and workflows of sophisticated IP practice. Your contributions will directly influence how leading AI labs develop and assess the next generation of AI systems.

• Construct a realistic digital workspace based on the Drive folders you use daily, including client memos, patent/trademark drafts, prior-art search results, opinion letters, licensing agreements, docket printouts, and email threads, while incorporating relevant platforms like Westlaw/LexisNexis, HotDocs, and Relativity.
• Design multi-step tasks that reflect your actual workflows, focusing on end-to-end client engagements such as origination, prosecution/strategy, ongoing counseling, and enforcement/litigation, ensuring they challenge frontier AI agents effectively.
• Collaborate with fellow IP attorneys to shape the environment, define task scope, and review scenarios for realism and rigor.
• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and establish evaluation criteria for IP-law agent benchmarks.
• Contribute to cutting-edge AI research and benchmarking, with your work informing the training and evaluation of advanced AI systems.

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar admission; USPTO registration for patent practitioners.
• Minimum of 3 years of full-time IP experience at an AmLaw 100/200 firm or Fortune 500 in-house IP team.
• Experience in areas such as:
• Patent prosecution (utility, design, PCT) in technology, life sciences, or mechanical fields.
• Trademark prosecution and portfolio management.
• IP litigation (district court, PTAB, ITC) or post-grant proceedings.
• IP licensing, due diligence, and transactions.
• Trade-secret and IP enforcement strategy.
• Proficient in using Westlaw/LexisNexis, HotDocs or Contract Express, and Relativity.
• Strong analytical thinking and writing skills, capable of translating legal workflows into structured task specifications.

• Task Completion Pay: Competitive, based on task quality (~$1, 750, $2, 150 per completed task, subject to change as the project evolves).
• Performance Bonus: Top performers receive a weekly bonus incentive in addition to their per-task rate.
• Hourly Opportunity: High performers may be invited to transition to an hourly compensation model based on sustained quality and throughput.
