Registered Dental Assistant

GENERAL PURPOSE:The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) is responsible for performing all duties of a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) and other functions legally allowed in the state of California.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Duties with general supervision:Mouth mirror inspecting oral cavity, to include charting of obvious lesions, existing restorations and missing teethPlacement and removal of temporary sedative dressingsDuties with direct supervision:Perform pulp testSizes stainless steel crowns, temporary crowns and bandsPlacements of post-extractions and periodontal dressingCoronal polishing if certified by the stateSealants placement, if certified by the stateOther Duties assigned by SupervisorFlexibility to work at other Ampla Health sites as neededQUALITIES & CHARACTERISTICS:Maintains a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers, the public, patients and all Ampla Health’s staff, Board of Directors and vendorsMaintains the highest professional ethics and is honest in dealing with people; is a model for all employees through his/her actionsStrive to learn more and is receptive to learning new challenges and opportunitiesDisplays enthusiasm toward the work and the mission of Ampla HealthMaintains excellent attendance and punctualityReadily adapts to change and can think outside the boxPROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Valid California RDA licenseCurrent CPR cardValid X-ray certificateAbility to perform duties based on the attached performance evaluation factorsDemonstrate clear knowledge of Ampla Health’s clinic structure, standards, procedures and protocolsAbility to navigate through several different systemsCOMMUNICATIONS SKILLS:Must have neat and legible handwritingMust be able to type accurately with proper verbiage and grammarMust be able to interact with patients courteously and calmlyDemonstrate active and focused listening skillsAbility to communicate well with the publicWORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Works well with patients in a generally comfortable environment office. Employees must possess the following physical requirements:Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels)Able to work on feet the majority of the day without tiringMust be able to hear adequately to auscultate B/PSMust have adequate vision to read x-raysMust be able to reach above shoulder level to work.
