Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position DescriptionServe as an integral part of the Lauderdale Lakes Department of Public Works Team. Under general supervision, perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled manual labor activities to ensure that all building operations, physical infrastructure, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems run at optimal efficiency. Provide technical direction and supervision to the Facilities Division crews with the direction of the Assistant Director. This role is responsible for scheduling routine inspections, managing work orders, supervising contractors, supervising and ensuring the workplace remains a safe, comfortable environment for employees and visitors.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the general guidance and direction of the Assistant Director Public Works.SUPERVISION EXERCISED:Exercise supervision over the Facilities and Fleet Division Maintenance worker(s), MEP coordinator, Fleet coordinator as assigned to the Public Works Department, at the discretion of the Assistant Director and/or designee.Essential DutiesInspect, track, prioritize, and assign building maintenance requests and Work Orders.Schedule and monitor routine upkeep of all City Facilities and security systems.Source external service providers, monitor service contracts/agreements, and oversee their on-site work.Maintains an inventory of all municipal Facilities components within the City of Lauderdale Lakes that are part of the assigned responsibilities. Inventories and inspection reports will be maintained on a computer system and in a manual file system if needed.Conduct regular walk-throughs to spot asset damages, hazards, safety concerns and required infrastructure upgrades.Purchase and manage a stock of tools, replacement components, and operating supplies.Track facility expenses and review invoices to keep operations aligned with City's financial targets.Respond to situations during and after-hours emergency calls.Investigates and responds to concerns and complaints related to all facilities. Performs other related duties as required.QualificationsMust possess a High school diploma or equivalent; supplemented by at least four (5) years of responsible working experience in facility operations, property management, or a building trade.Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver's License. Possession of a Commercial Driver's License is preferred.Possession/maintenance of the following certification(s)/training(s) are preferred:American Public Works Association Institute (APWA)Facilities Management ProfessionalCertified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI)National Incident Management System (NIMS)Supervision in GovernmentAPWA Facilities and Grounds Manager ProgramMiscellaneous Information & Special RequirementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Knowledge safe working practices and usage of cleaning solutionsSkill with small hand tools and industrial cleaning equipmentSkill in Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel)Skill in providing good customer serviceAbility to multi-task while working with tight deadlines and shifting prioritiesAbility to train personnel on safety measures and use of cleaning products, equipment and techniques.Ability to organize work for timely completionAbility to work with minimal supervisionAbility to use critical thinking skills to arrive at solutions and suggest improvements to processesAbility to clearly communicate and understand information in English, both orally and in writingAbility to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
