LOCATION: Starkweather Academy

Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive leaders who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  3. Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  4. Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate or immediately possess.
  5. Minimum of 5 years of relevant education experience, including significant involvement in adult education, alternative education, and career preparation.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  7. Experience in group facilitation and/or training
  8. Proven ability to build and leverage relationships with diverse audiences and partners
  9. Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, prioritize time, and manage implementation plans in fast-moving, changeable environments
  10. Strong computer and technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google apps, and interest in and ability to learn new platforms

ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP & PERSONNEL EVALUATION:
  • Effectively hires, develops, projects staffing needs for, and formally evaluates certified instructional staff and non-certified office staff.
  • Oversees the daily duties and performance of instructional staff and office staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Serves as the designated building leader for Starkweather Academy when the principal is out, managing building operations and evening program safety.
  • Provides leadership which focuses on adult education, curriculum, instructional programming, and alternative education/career preparation.
  • Maintains a collaborative culture of high expectations for developmentally appropriate student growth and achievement.
  • Plans, assists, and leads professional learning opportunities, in-service programs, staff development activities, and curriculum workshops on Adult Education best practices.
  • Coordinates and supervises all areas of the instructional program, including interpretation of test data, improvement of instruction, and the development of new course curricula.
  • Assists students and staff in emergencies as defined by the building safety and security plan.
FULL DATA ENTRY OWNERSHIP & COMPLIANCE TRACKING:
  • Takes full data entry ownership to hand-enter, manage, and audit all student accounting, attendance, grades, and membership reporting directly utilizing both MiStar and MAERS systems.
  • Coordinates, supervises, and executes all data collection and the preparation of all required state, federal, and district-level reports, memos, or other administrative materials.
  • Ensures strict compliance with all aspects of state, federal, and local adult education grants, funding sources, and accreditation standards.
  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets data related to program effectiveness, student outcomes, and enrollment trends to inform high-level decision-making.
MAIN OFFICE CLERICAL CONTROL & STUDENT RECORDS:
  • Operates out of the main office secretary station to directly assist with incoming calls, routing community/student inquiries, and resolving student concerns or questions.
  • Greets and assists students, visitors, and the public at large, and routes telephone calls efficiently.
  • Maintains accurate, organized, and strictly confidential student records, files, attendance data, grades, and report cards.
  • Types reports, memos, and other administrative materials as required to maintain seamless daily operations.
  • Maintains accounting, enrollment, and all administrative records.
  • Inventories adult education supplies, textbooks, media, curriculum, equipment, and resources.
  • Performs physical tasks including bending, lifting, and overhead work as required to manage materials and daily operations.
TESTING FACILITIES & CENTER OPERATIONS:
  • Acts as the facility authority to oversee the launch, structural setup, staffing, and strict policy compliance of the new official GED Testing Center.
  • Coordinates and supervises facilities monitoring, physical arrangements, and site-related problems.
  • Prepares for, schedules, and oversees the intake pipelines and testing schedules for student diagnostic assessments.
RECRUITMENT, MARKETING & GROWTH EXECUTION:
  • Spearheads student retention efforts, developing proactive strategies to keep adult learners engaged, supported, and on track to complete their program goals.
  • Designs and executes creative advertising campaigns and innovative outreach methods (e.g., social media, grassroots marketing, community pop-ups) to actively expand and grow the program.
  • Acts as the primary ambassador for the program, actively pitching services to the public and finding unique, non-traditional avenues to recruit adult learners.
  • Manages and regularly updates the program's website to ensure all information, schedules, and resources are accurate, current, and user-friendly.
  • Produces and distributes regular digital newsletters and e-blasts to the community, partners, and families to share program updates, success stories, and enrollment opportunities.
MACRO-PARTNERSHIPS & DISTRICT COLLABORATION:
  • Provides leadership and cultivates high-level partnerships with regional business leaders, workforce boards, community agencies, and organizations to support families and connect students with employment.
  • Collaborates closely with counselors, social workers, and support staff to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of adult learners and alternative education students.
  • Effectively communicates with a variety of district-level departments to support staff, students, and families (including technology, community education, MLL department, schools, etc.).
  • Collaborates with regional adult education members, publishers, educators, and community members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Principal at Starkweather Academy

EVALUATION:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

COMPENSATION: Non-affiliated salary schedule, Grade 9. $87,803 - $116,470.

52-week position, July 1 - June 30

Placement on the salary scheduleis dependent upon background, experience, and current compensation level.

Full-year contract will be prorated to the start date.

This is a grant-funded position currently funded for the 2026-2027 school year. Future employment will be based on the availability of funding.

Occasionally the employee will bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs such as boxes of books. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically fingerprinted for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check.
