Medication Bedside Coordinator - Ambulatory Care Pharmacy

Position Summary Medication Bedside Coordinator – Ambulatory Care Pharmacy. Responsible for reviewing and preparing medication for dispensing to Hospital Medication to Bedside Program patients within State and Federal guidelines. Job Responsibilities Work with Hospital staff to promote and educate patients about Medication to Bedside services. Enter medication orders. Perform pharmaceutical calculations as required. Clarify prescription orders with pharmacist and/or clinician as appropriate. Assist with preparation and dispensing of medications. Identify medications requiring special storage and/or handling such as hazardous medications and/or refrigerated medications. Identify supplies necessary for selected medications (sharps containers, needles/syringes, alcohol swabs, pill boxes, diabetic supplies, bandages, etc). Work with pharmacy staff to obtain prior authorization for patients when required. Assist patients with applicable forms of financial assistance when warranted. Communicate with patients as required using all forms of communication (phone, in person, computer). Maintain a system that tracks all patient interactions with regard to Medication to Bedside program usage and non‑usage. Evaluate and re‑engage the program to address patient concerns. Track patient adherence and provide quarterly reports of medication compliance. Work with pharmacy management to maintain accounts receivables processes. Establish a system to track patient medication deliveries ensuring high compliance. Maintain proper medication inventory and supporting documentation. Participate in improvements and new pharmacy initiatives. Participate in nursing station reviews and pharmacy security. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, adhere to policies. Manage internal pharmacy metrics and accreditation standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (required). Pharmacy Technician Certification. 2–5 years of experience in a busy retail pharmacy. Experience in pharmacy insurance adjudication and overrides. Strong computer skills – able to work with EPIC and Microsoft Office products. Strong interpersonal skills – effective communication with patients and healthcare providers. Strong organizational skills – ability to promote new initiatives, work independently and meet deadlines. Motivated, willing to promote and re‑engineer the program to meet quotas. Preferred Qualifications 5–10 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a busy retail pharmacy. Experience working in a medical clinic.
