Position Summary 

The Vascular Ultrasound Instructor is responsible for providing high-quality didactic and laboratory instruction for MCC's Vascular Ultrasound Program in Columbus, Ohio. The instructor supports the Program Director in delivering the approved curriculum and preparing students for entry-level practice in vascular sonography. 

The instructor provides theoretical instruction and hands-on scanning demonstrations in vascular anatomy and physiology, vascular hemodynamics, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, Doppler principles, and vascular examination techniques. The position emphasizes student learning, practical skill development, competency assessment, patient care, and professional practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Teach assigned didactic, laboratory, and simulation courses in accordance with the approved Vascular Ultrasound curriculum. 
• Demonstrate and teach vascular sonography scanning techniques, including duplex imaging, color Doppler, spectral Doppler, and appropriate hemodynamic measurements. 
• Instruct students in vascular anatomy and physiology, vascular pathology, ultrasound physics and instrumentation, and vascular examination protocols. 
• Provide hands-on instruction in peripheral arterial and venous studies, carotid duplex examinations, abdominal vascular studies, and other examinations included in the approved curriculum. 
• Teach proper patient positioning, scanning protocols, image optimization, documentation, patient care, and professional standards. 
• Evaluate student knowledge and practical skills through written examinations, laboratory assessments, scanning demonstrations, and competency evaluations. 
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, laboratory performance, and student competencies in accordance with institutional policies. 
• Provide timely feedback, academic support, and mentoring to promote student achievement. 
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and professional learning environment that emphasizes patient safety, ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism. 
• Utilize instructional technology and learning management systems to support classroom instruction and student learning. 
• Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty regarding course delivery, student progress, and instructional needs. 
• Participate in faculty meetings, program meetings, and professional development activities as assigned. 
• Maintain current knowledge of vascular sonography practices, professional standards, and relevant national credentialing requirements. 
• Adhere to institutional policies, FERPA requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. 

 

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications 

• Associate degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Vascular Sonography, or a closely related healthcare field. A bachelor's degree is preferred. 
• Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential through ARDMS required. 
• Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience in vascular sonography. 
• Demonstrated proficiency in vascular ultrasound scanning techniques, Doppler evaluation, image acquisition, and vascular examination protocols. 
• Ability to teach hands-on scanning techniques and evaluate student knowledge and practical competencies. 
• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and student mentoring skills. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching, clinical instruction, student supervision, or clinical precepting experience. 
• Experience using learning management systems and educational technology. 
• Experience developing instructional materials, laboratory activities, and student competency assessments.
