Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Emergency Department

Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Schedule: 5 × 8-hour shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Compensation

Local: $1,200 – $1,400 per week
Travel: $1,600 – $1,850 per week

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care in an outpatient acute-care/emergency department environment. The LPN will perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties while working with minimal orientation and supervision.

The ideal candidate will have strong patient-care skills, previous Emergency Department experience, and the ability to perform clinical procedures such as IV placement and phlebotomy . Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and direct them to appropriate examination rooms.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Obtain, measure, and accurately document patient vital signs.
• Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations.
• Prepare trays and supplies for injections and clinical procedures.
• Administer injections within scope of practice and established protocols.
• Assist with Pap tests and other clinical procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement as required.
• Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked examination rooms and clinical areas.
• Contact insurance companies to obtain required authorizations.
• Obtain referrals from primary care providers and assist with related documentation.
• Document patient information, care, and procedures accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) .
• Follow established infection-control, safety, and patient-care procedures.
• Provide professional and compassionate communication to patients and families.
• Perform other clinical and administrative support duties as assigned.

Required Education

• LPN Diploma from an accredited nursing program.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License .
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) .
• Ability to maintain current CPR/BLS certification as required.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 1 year of LPN experience required.
• Previous Emergency Department (ED) experience required.
• Prior inpatient experience preferred.
• Current New York State LPN license and documentation.
• Demonstrated competency in IV placement and phlebotomy .
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) strongly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and patient-care skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment.
