Project Controls Specialist IThe Project Controls Specialist I coordinates and performs project control activities from pre-construction through execution and close-out.Project Setup & PlanningSet up projects in ERP and project management systems to track and analyze performance dataDevelop and implement project control plans, budgets, and cost breakdown structures (CBS)Project Monitoring & ControlManage project controls and timelines to ensure compliance with cost standards and financial regulationsMonitor performance, quantity estimates, and claims; providing regular progress updates to the project teamTrack earned value, costs, and schedules to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategiesMaintain and oversee change management procedures, including review and approval of change orders to budget and revenueReporting & AnalyticsPrepare weekly productivity reports and month-end reporting packages, including variance and forecast analysisMaintain time-phased forecasts and cash flow reportsUpdate and monitor project dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and respond to ad-hoc data requestsManage billing schedules and client invoicing processesCommunication & SupportParticipate in project meetings to review timelines, deliverables, and performanceBuild and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and contractorsDevelopment and implement project controls best practicesSkills / ExperienceStrong analytical/problem solving skillsDetail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilityAbility to read, write and speak in EnglishAbility to work independently and collaborate across departmentsCapable of working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentResults oriented with a focus on achieving project goalsRequirementsBS/BA in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management (Minimum of 5 years of project controls experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree)1-3 years of project controls experienceWorking knowledge of project controls and project management principlesWorking Knowledge to Proficiency in computer applications such as financial tools, spreadsheetsProficiency in MS Office SuiteProject Accounting experience is a plusStrong understanding of the full life cycle of a construction projectThis role is to be based in the Downtown Houston office on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 remote).Important Interview Policy: To ensure a focused conversation and protect the privacy of both our candidates and team members, the use of AI note-takers, recording devices, or real-time transcription software is strictly prohibited during this interview.
