Position Overview
We are looking for an accomplished and strategic Vice President of Revenue Cycle to oversee and optimize all revenue cycle functions across a rapidly expanding multi-site dental organization. This leader will be responsible for the entire revenue cycle process, from patient intake and insurance verification through collections and payment resolution. The role requires building and leading a high-performing revenue cycle team while partnering closely with Operations, Finance, Clinical, and Technology stakeholders.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive dental billing and revenue cycle expertise, a proven history of improving financial performance metrics, and the leadership skills necessary to drive operational excellence and accountability across a growing organization.
Location
Remote candidates will be considered. The selected individual should be willing to travel periodically to our headquarters locations in New Hyde Park and Melville, New York.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Cycle Leadership
- Develop and execute scalable revenue cycle strategies across all practice locations, including scheduling, eligibility verification, coding, claims management, payment posting, and collections.
- Standardize and optimize workflows to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
Insurance & Reimbursement Management
- Oversee insurance verification processes, provider credentialing, fee schedule administration, and payer contract negotiations.
- Maximize reimbursement opportunities while ensuring compliance with payer requirements.
Accounts Receivable Optimization
- Improve AR performance by reducing aging balances and implementing structured follow-up processes.
- Monitor collection trends and implement corrective actions to achieve benchmark performance.
Denial Prevention & Resolution
- Establish proactive denial management programs focused on reducing claim rejections and increasing first-pass claim acceptance.
- Develop effective appeals processes to recover revenue and minimize write-offs.
Patient Financial Experience
- Create patient-centered financial policies, payment options, and point-of-service collection strategies that support both patient satisfaction and revenue goals.
Team Development & Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of billing professionals, coders, credentialing specialists, and AR representatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and implement revenue cycle technologies, analytics platforms, clearinghouse solutions, and automation tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Leverage reporting and data analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
Performance Reporting
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to executive leadership on revenue cycle performance and financial outcomes.
Vendor & Payer Management
- Manage relationships with third-party billing partners, vendors, and insurance payers.
- Ensure service-level expectations are met through performance monitoring and accountability measures.
Compliance & Audit Oversight
- Ensure adherence to ADA, CDT, HIPAA, and applicable state regulations.
- Lead internal auditing efforts and coordinate responses to external payer audits.
Practice Integration & Growth
- Support revenue cycle integration for newly acquired practices, ensuring consistent processes and minimal disruption to collections and cash flow.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with executive leadership, including Finance, Operations, Clinical, and IT teams, to align revenue cycle initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive revenue cycle management experience, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role such as Vice President or Director.
- Prior experience within a dental organization, DSO, or multi-site specialty dental environment.
- Extensive knowledge of dental billing and coding, including CDT codes, ADA claim forms, coordination of benefits, and dual-coverage billing.
- Demonstrated success improving AR performance, increasing clean claim rates, and enhancing overall collection effectiveness.
- Experience leading teams of 10+ revenue cycle professionals across multiple locations.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with experience managing revenue cycle-related financial performance.
- Proficiency with dental practice management systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or similar platforms.
- Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations, payer compliance standards, and state-specific billing requirements.
Preferred
- Experience working within a private equity-backed DSO or rapidly growing healthcare organization.
- Familiarity with automation tools, AI-driven revenue cycle solutions, and predictive analytics platforms.
- Experience negotiating payer contracts and optimizing reimbursement structures.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or MHA preferred.
- Revenue cycle certifications such as CHBME, CRCR, or similar credentials are a plus.
