Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The HI-OR Scrub Tech is responsible for assisting in a variety of surgical procedures by independently scrubbing in general, orthopedic, vascular, ophthalmic, urology, ENT, endoscopy, robotic, obstetrics, and gynecology cases. This role supports patient turnover, transport, and ensures efficient operation of the OR. The position requires at least 2 years of hospital scrubbing experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced, variable shift environment with on-call responsibilities. Responsibilities:

• Independently scrub in diverse surgical procedures including general, orthopedic, vascular, ophthalmic, urology, ENT, endoscopy, robotic, obstetrics, and gynecology cases.
• Assist with turnover cleaning between surgeries to maintain a sterile environment.
• Transport patients as needed within the facility.
• Maintain readiness and proper organization of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure efficient and safe patient care.
• Adhere to dress code with scrubs provided by the facility.
• Complete orientation on day shift as directed by management.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience scrubbing cases in a hospital setting.
• Active State of Hawaii license by the start of assignment (applicants without must apply upon offer acceptance).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced operating room environment.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties including robotic and endoscopic procedures.
• Previous experience working in a small, busy OR with multiple simultaneous rooms.

Special Considerations:

• Shifts operate between 06:45 and 23:15 with variable scheduling based on department needs.
• Scheduled for 40 hours per week, with possibility of 32 hours during holidays.
• On-call coverage 24/7 with an average of 1-2 times per week plus up to 2 weekends per month, requiring a 20-minute callback time.
• Traveler must complete a minimum of 39 shifts during the contract if requesting time off.
• Orientation typically occurs on day shift for up to one week or as determined by management.

Scheduling:

• Variable shifts between 06:45 and 23:15 based on department requirements.
• Standard workweek consists of 40 hours, with possible reduction to 32 hours during holidays.
• On-call duties assigned regularly, including weekends.
