Director of Reconciliation & Settlement

Title: Director of Reconciliation & Settlement Location: Woodbridge, NJ Job type: Full time We are seeking an experienced Director of Reconciliation and Settlement to lead the daily operations and strategic design of our money movement, cash reconciliation, and partner settlement activities. This role reports directly to the Chief Loan Operations and Service Officer. This individual will oversee all aspects of financial reconciliation, reporting, and controls across our POS financing platform and serve as the operational lead for capital partner relationships. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in consumer lending, credit card or merchant processing, ACH payments, and financial operations, with a proven ability to automate, scale, and optimize processes in a fast-growth environment. Key Responsibilities Capital Partner Support Lead onboarding and serve as primary operational liaison for new and existing capital partners Ensure timely and accurate delivery of partner reporting and transaction files Maintain strong relationships and communication with all financial partners Oversee daily cash movements across internal and external financial partners Prepare journal entries related to loan activity and fund flows Manage end-to-end debit and credit card reconciliation and settlement, including daily balancing of card network transactions, interchange fee validation, chargeback processing, and timely resolution of settlement discrepancies Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and ledger breaks, and debit and credit card settlement exceptions Ensure compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements Operational Controls & Reporting Design and implement end-to-end reconciliation processes for internal books, partner portfolios, and third-party platforms Monitor key metrics to ensure accuracy and performance across systems and stakeholders Proactively identify and resolve operational and financial control issues Develop comprehensive reporting frameworks for senior leadership Process & Technology Enablement Partner with Technology, Finance, and Product teams to develop and implement scalable solutions Identify automation opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk Document and maintain detailed operational procedures and internal controls Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all reconciliation processes Cross-functional Leadership Provide operational support to Customer Service and Commercial teams Train and mentor team members as the organization scales Support new product launches and operational initiatives from concept through execution Collaborate effectively across departments to achieve business objectives Qualifications Required Experience 10+ years in transactional operations roles Strong knowledge of installment lending, debit and credit card reconciliation and settlement, merchant processing, and ACH payment systems Hands‑on experience with credit card settlement operations, including card network settlement (Visa/Mastercard), interchange management, chargeback workflows, and dispute resolution Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reconciliation practices Proven experience designing and managing reconciliation processes at scale Core Competencies Exceptional problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy Demonstrated success in automating workflows and enhancing operational efficiency Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-technical audiences Strong organizational and project management capabilities with proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis) Experience with reconciliation software or financial platforms preferred Familiarity with SQL or other data analysis tools a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr Smart IT Frame LLC
