Physician, Neurology Clinician-Researcher

West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are actively recruiting a full‑time Clinician‑Researcher at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care, education, and research institute providing neurological and mental healthcare through more than 300,000 visits annually. The 300+ physicians and scientists of the RNI improve lives by pioneering advances in neuroscience, brain health, and therapeutics. The RNI team utilizes the latest technologies with academic, government, and industry partners to address public health challenges ranging from addiction to Alzheimer’s disease.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in cognitive and behavioral neurology, including mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and related disorders.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program in clinical neuroscience.
• Design and lead clinical trials, observational studies, and investigator‑initiated research.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Collaborate across departments and disciplines to foster innovative research initiatives.
• Mentor trainees and junior faculty in research methodology and career development.

Qualifications

• MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with eligibility for West Virginia medical licensure.
• Completed a psychiatry or neurology residency program and an ACGME/UCNS accredited neurology fellowship program.
• Board certified by ACGME/UCNS at the time of appointment.
