The Specialist will regularly engage with the business stakeholder community, establish and lead strategies to achieve optimal cost reduction, and ensure the effective management of supplier relationships and risk specific to construction, facilities, capital projects, and related services. This role supports facilities construction projects including greenfield and brownfield developments, as well as infrastructure, structural, and equipment upgrades.This position is directly responsible for owning the relationships with key site and business unit leadership. Also is responsible for the development / implementation of sourcing strategies and collaboration with internal business partners and suppliers to reduce risks and costs for Honda within construction and capital project activities. The Specialist is accountable to identify, set, and manage metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery for contractors, subcontractors, and service providers. This position will drive results through the creation and management of competitive bidding processes and analyzation of data and market trends related to the construction industry, labor, materials, schedule, and project execution. Also actively drives the continuous improvement of regional Procurement processes and tools and is responsible for long term planning for the category, creating/driving/implementing initiatives, communicating and influencing customers and suppliers at all levels supporting construction, equipment and facility-related procurement objectives.The Specialist must work collaboratively, exhibit a strong sense of urgency to meet customer timelines, exhibit an intense curiosity/learning drive, successfully operate in a fast-paced environment, engage/influence key stakeholders, be extremely customer-focused, and consistently display a high level of business acumen. Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects, as well as timely completion to meet the business’ objectives in a construction and equipment project environment with multiple stakeholders, timelines, locations and project phases.Key AccountabilitiesResponsible for Supplier Performance / Development / Risk/ Support SegmentationDevelop/Execute/Implement the Strategic Sourcing Function in Alignment with CategoryLead the team to establish and meet category SEQCDM performance targets and measures, monitor progress and implement countermeasures when necessaryResponsible For Category’s Legal and Commercial Supplier Contracts Executed to Protect Honda and Business UsersLead project implementation and oversee projects and business plan items, monitor progress and adjust direction as neededEffectively sell ideas, negotiate, collaborate, and build consensus across Honda North America sites (Mfg., Sales, R&D) Apply key customer (upstream, downstream, and end-user) viewpoint in all category activities. Establish, understand, and communicate Total Cost of Ownership to all parties.Build a network of productive relationships across HDMA/AHM to achieve category plans and targetsQualifications, Experience, and SkillsMinimum Educational Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field or equivalent experienceMinimum Experience:5+ years of experience in either a Purchasing and/or Procurement related role or in a field where job knowledge & skills are applicable based on educationPreferred: 1–3 years of experience in construction procurementOther Job-Specific Skills:Advance computer skills including working knowledge of microsoft suite to include word, excel, powerpoint, etc. Familiarity with sap, ariba or major erp system(s)Understanding of commercial terms and conditions and experience in identifying and negotiating master agreement requirements; ability to identify engagement risk factors and ensure commercial contracts and legal agreements appropriately mitigate risk and protect Honda.Expert understanding of, and experience with, multi-step strategic sourcing processes and category management strategiesAble to explain complex data in an understandable manner for a wide range of audiencesPlan and implement long-term development strategies for categoryStrong communication and negotiation skills for all levels of audienceJob DimensionsNo. of Direct Reports: 0No. of Indirect Reports: 0Financial Dimensions: All category spend projects >$100k; business users’ budgets – analyse and reduce.
