Pediatric Anesthesiology Physician

A major tertiary care hospital in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a Locums Pediatric Anesthesiology Physician for ongoing coverage starting as soon as possible. This role offers a predictable weekday schedule with no nights, weekends, or call responsibilities. The physician will care for pediatric patients in a busy surgical environment, focusing on infants and young children undergoing various surgical procedures.

• Trauma Center: Yes
• Primary cases include pediatric patients ranging from approximately 2 days old to 2 years of age, including hernia repairs, pyloric stenosis procedures, ENT surgeries, and additional general pediatric surgical cases.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for pediatric surgical patients
• Conduct preoperative evaluations and develop anesthesia plans
• Administer and monitor anesthesia throughout surgical procedures
• Manage postoperative recovery and pain control
• Collaborate with pediatric surgeons, nursing staff, and perioperative teams
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Shift & Schedule

• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Ongoing
• Typical Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Additional shift options may include: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
• No weekends
• No night coverage
• No 24-hour call
• No in-house call
• No beeper call

Requirements

• MD or DO required
• Board Certified in Anesthesiology
• Fellowship Training in Pediatric Anesthesiology required
• Active Virginia medical license preferred
• Current DEA registration, if required by facility
