About the Role

We're looking for a Junior Industrial Painter to join our production team. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone with basic painting or coating experience who wants to build a career in industrial finishing. You'll work alongside experienced painters to prepare, coat, and finish metal, wood, or composite parts and equipment to meet quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting through sanding, masking, degreasing, and priming
• Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using spray guns, rollers, or brushes
• Operate and maintain spray booths, HVLP guns, and related paint equipment
• Mix paints and coatings to specified colors and viscosities following work orders
• Inspect finished surfaces for defects such as runs, drips, or uneven coverage and perform touch-ups as needed
• Follow safety protocols, including proper use of respirators, PPE, and ventilation systems
• Maintain a clean and organized paint booth and equipment area
• Track material usage and report inventory needs to the supervisor
• Follow all environmental and OSHA compliance requirements related to paint and chemical handling
• Assist senior painters with larger or more complex projects
• Complete basic quality documentation and production paperwork

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• 0–2 years of painting experience (industrial, automotive, or general painting background welcome)
• Basic understanding of surface preparation techniques
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and color/spec sheets
• Comfortable wearing PPE (respirator, coveralls, safety glasses) for extended periods
• Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for most of a shift
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred:

• Experience with spray gun equipment (HVLP, airless, or electrostatic)
• Familiarity with industrial coatings, primers, and solvents
• Basic knowledge of color matching or mixing
• Forklift certification a plus

Work Environment

This role is performed in a manufacturing/paint shop setting with exposure to fumes, noise, and temperature variation. Proper respiratory protection and PPE are required and provided. Work is performed both standing and moving throughout a shift.
