Job Description:
- The team is seeking a Temporary Housing Code Manager to focus on several key building code changes that the Governor wants to prioritize to make building more feasible.
- While zoning designates what housing is technically allowed to be built in a community, the building code often determines what is economically feasible and is actually constructed.
- Client doesn’t currently have a seat on any of the board’s regulatory bodies for building code development and lacks the technical knowledge required to successfully advocate on the code change specifics. As a result, costs to build housing have dramatically expanded.
- Even though department spending on affordable housing has increased over the past 5 years, the cost per unit increase has been just as high. Conversations with the LG, Governor, and Secretary Matias have pushed for department to determine ways to reduce the cost to build housing in general and the subsidy cost per affordable housing unit in particular.
