Forklift Operator/Material Handler - Third Shift

Job Description

A large supply company is seeking a Forklift Operator/Material Handler to drive sit-down (preferably propane) forklifts. Additionally, you will be building any skids needed and packaging completed orders. Training will be done for 4 to 5 weeks on first shift from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then the position will move to third shift.

Job Duties:

• Operator sit-down (preferably propane) forklifts to move pallets
• Move materials to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks and secure all loads before handling
• Ensure the production lines have material they need to keep production moving in a continuous flow
• Report inbound and outbound load discrepancies to supervisor
• Assist with packing, labeling, and preparing shipments
• Use RF scanner to record material movement throughout the facility
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment
• Monitor surroundings to make sure necessary safety precautions are being used as well as look for ways to prevent accidents from occurring
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Must have at least 3 years experience driving sit-down propane forklifts and must successfully earn an ALPCO-issued forklift operator license upon hire
• Must be proficient in safely maneuvering forklifts, abiding by all OSHA and ALPCO safety standards
• Must be able to read and understand all shipping/receiving paperwork to prevent errors
• Must have the ability to pay a high attention to detail, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment is needed
• Must be able to lift and move up to 65 pounds, climb on/off a tow motor frequently for at least 8 hours per day, use both feet to engage foot pedals, and use both hands when steering and using hand controls
• Change propane tanks on forklifts weighing 65 pounds, demonstrate good eye/hand coordination, and perform repetitive motions for at least eight hours of a day
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, noise, temperature and other elements in the shop area with or without reasonable accommodation
