About the Position

Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a medical surgical unit. The unit is responsible for admitting patients from various sources, including surgery and emergency care. The average number of admissions to the unit over a 24-hour period is between 8-12. The ideal patient care ratio is 5:1, though flexibility to a 6:1 ratio may occur. The unit takes a diverse range of patient diagnoses and includes support from various interdisciplinary teams. Candidates will be expected to float to other areas if necessary, specifically to manage medical surgical patients. All candidates must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Preferred experience includes familiarity with Cerner charting systems and previous charge nurse experience. Skills in managing complex medical devices and procedures are essential for this role. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication and critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment. The environment requires adherence to safety protocols and effective teamwork in patient care delivery.
