Partnerships Coordinator

For 43 years, Legal Outreach has been raising the bar of academic achievement for urban youth from under-resourced communities in New York City. Through intensive legal and educational programs, Legal Outreach works with students from middle school through high school to provide them with the vision, skills, and support they need to matriculate at highly selective colleges.

Legal Outreach seeks a highly organized, relationship-oriented, and student-centered Partnerships Coordinator to support and strengthen the organization’s partnerships with law firms, corporations, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other professional partners.

The Partnerships Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring that Legal Outreach’s partnerships continue to grow and remain meaningful for both students and partners. During the school year, the Coordinator will lead Legal Outreach’s Professional Exposure Program and Professional Workforce Entry Program by liaising with corporate sponsors, law firm partners, and other professional volunteers to coordinate workshops for high school students. These workshops expose students to various industries, help them understand professional pathways, and prepare them for future workplace opportunities. The Coordinator will also facilitate Legal Outreach’s Professional Training Programs, which prepare students for internships and workplace experiences by helping them build the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to thrive in professional environments. During the summer, the Partnerships Coordinator will serve as the primary lead for Legal Outreach’s Summer Internship Program, coordinating student internships with more than forty internship providers. This includes working closely with students, families, partner organizations, supervisors, and Legal Outreach staff to ensure that internships are well-organized, meaningful, and successful.

Responsibilities

Partnership Management and Coordination

• Serve as a primary point of contact for law firms, corporations, financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other professional partners involved in Legal Outreach’s career exposure, professional development, and internship programs.
• Help cultivate, maintain, and strengthen partner relationships to support student programming and long-term organizational growth.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with partners regarding program expectations, schedules, student participation, workshop needs, internship placements, and follow-up.
• Support efforts to identify new partnership opportunities that align with Legal Outreach’s mission and student development goals.
• Track partner engagement and maintain accurate records of workshops, evaluations, internship providers, student placements, and partner participation.

Professional Exposure and Student Preparation

• Coordinate career-exposure and professional development workshops that introduce students to various industries, career pathways, and workplace expectations.
• Attend and help facilitate professional development workshops, ensuring that sessions run smoothly and that students are engaged and prepared.
• Collect feedback from students, partners, and staff to help assess and improve the quality of programming.

Summer Internship Program

• Serve as the primary coordinator for Legal Outreach’s Summer Internship Program, which includes more than forty internship providers.
• Manage the internship placement process, including partner communication, student assignments, orientation materials, schedules, expectations, and required documentation.
• Communicate with internship supervisors throughout the summer to monitor student progress and address questions or concerns.
• Maintain regular contact with students during the internship period to ensure they are supported, meeting expectations, and making the most of the experience.
• Lead internship debrief sessions to help students reflect on their experiences, identify lessons learned, and strengthen their professional growth.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to build and maintain professional relationships with partners, volunteers, students, families, and staff.
• Experience working with high school students, college students, youth development programs, educational programs, nonprofit organizations, or professional development initiatives.
• Comfort communicating with law firm, corporate, nonprofit, and professional partners.
• The ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, schedules, and relationships at the same time.
• A student-centered approach and a commitment to helping young people from under-resourced communities access opportunity.
• Professional judgment, discretion, patience, and flexibility.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic data tracking systems.
