Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery General Information Location: Dickson, TN Unit Name: Women’s Services Unit Specifics Number of Beds: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP): 9 beds Obstetric Emergency Department (OBED): 1 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU): 4 beds Operating Room Suite: 1 Patient Ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections 1:3 for couplet care 1:1 for newborns until stable NICU: 1:3 for intermediate care (minimum 2 NICU nurses in the unit if there are patients) Unit Staffing Description: No techs or unit secretaries available Type of Equipment: Central monitoring system (CPN) Intravenous (IV) pumps Infant warmers Tele-med robot for neonatologist consultations Bili-blankets PCA pumps Documentation System: Meditech and CPN Scheduling Requirements: Full-time 3 shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays; PRN staff for coverage Floating Policy: Regular staff may float within the facility as needed; some are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU Patient Experience Requirements: Daily rounding on all patients and safety rounding Qualifications Requested Skills: Labor and delivery experience, including laboring and recovering mothers, and transitioning and assessing newborns. Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other potential OB emergencies preferred. Advanced skills in fetal monitoring education and experience with inductions (Pitocin, Cervidil). Procedures Performed on Unit C-sections Circumcisions Intra-uterine monitoring Vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries Certifications Required BLS (Basic Life Support) NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Fetal Monitoring Training Dress Code Uniform: Pink and/or brown scrubs required per infant security policy for the unit. Additional Information The unit is staffed by 6 seasoned RNs with approximately 30 years of experience each, serving as excellent resources and preceptors. Several other nurses with 7-10 years of experience contribute to a highly competent team. The unit fosters a collaborative environment and is willing to provide assistance and guidance. Working in this LDRP unit offers valuable experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care.
