Assistant Operations Manager

POSITION: Assistant Operations Manager DEPARTMENT: Operations REPORTS TO: Director of Operations/Operations Manager FLSA STATUS: Exempt Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage all aspects of facility operations: front and back‑of‑house, preventive maintenance, third‑party contracting, staffing, venue setup/tear‑down at both Acrisure Amphitheater and Van Andel Arena. Hire, train and supervise full‑time, part‑time and temporary staff. Assist the Operations Manager and Director in directing, supervising and scheduling all aspects of operations, including building and grounds; technical services; event services, including ADA compliance; public safety; security; custodial services and parking departments. Coordinate operations activities with other building departments and show‑related contractors. Implement facility rules, regulation policies and procedures. Anticipate problems and appropriate solutions. Investigate, analyze and resolve operational problems and complaints. Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments. Ensure that the operations department receives pertinent information for most effective use of the facility and staffing. Groundskeeping duties include leading or hiring outside contractors or facility full and part‑time staff in landscaping and debris cleanup. Assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events. Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies. Maintain responsibility for the Master MSDS log in the building. Supervisory Responsibilities Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends & ASM policies and applicable laws. Interview, hire, train and plan, assign and direct work for employees. Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's Degree from a technical college with a major in Management or Maintenance Engineering. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervising or managing in a similar facility; additional experience may substitute for education. Supervisory experience preferred. Excellent organization and prioritization skills. Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management. Strong customer service skills; professional presentation, appearance and work ethic. Proven leadership and strong communication skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member. Requires ability to work flexible hours, including day, night, overnight shifts, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours. Working Conditions Location: On‑site at 60% Acrisure Amphitheater and 40% Van Andel Arena. Extended hours in varying conditions; extended periods of standing and physical activity.
