Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Coverage Dates:

• June 11-30, 2026
• July 1-31, 2026

Schedule Details:

• 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM
• 24-hour call and/or clinic-OR-call model depending on final site need
• Candidates must be able to provide a minimum of 7 shifts per week
• Candidates must disclose all dates available for coverage June-September 2026

Reason for Coverage:Short staffed - immediate need for coverage

Duties:

• Comprehensive patient management for cardiothoracic surgery patients across the continuum of care, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases
• Surgical coverage in the operating room
• Consults
• Daily rounding
• On-call responsibilities
• Coverage for urgent and emergent cardiac surgery cases as needed
• Collaborate closely with ICU team, cardiology, interventional cardiology, anesthesia, APPs, perfusionists, and OR staff to ensure coordinated patient care

Required Procedures:

• CABG (on-pump and off-pump)
• Valve surgery (AVR, MVR, TAVR)
• ECMO
• Emergent post-PCI cases
• Type A aortic dissections
• Chest exploration / re-entry / postoperative bleeding management
• Temporary mechanical circulatory support management preferred
• TAVR

Patient Volume:

• Admissions per day: 70
• 90-100 inpatient discharges per day

• Heart and vascular
• Neurology
• Oncology
• Orthopedic surgery
• Women's health
• Trauma

EMR:Cerner + Ingenious Med (iMed)

Support Staff:

• APP support with NP and first assist coverage
• Dedicated cardiac surgery and ICU support infrastructure
• Multidisciplinary trauma and cardiovascular environment within a Level I center

Requirements:

• Board Certified Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery - Required
• Active Arizona license or IMLC with LOQ in hand at time of presentation - Required
• Active ACLS - Highly Preferred
• Active BLS - Highly Preferred
• Active DEA - Highly Preferred
• Providers with consecutive availability blocks and flexibility for urgent coverage preferred
