MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST - LUNG CANCER

The University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation are seeking a BC/BE medical oncologist with specialization in Lung Cancer for a growing practice. This position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor to either the tenure or clinical track (non-tenure track), depending on qualifications and experience. Appointment to the rank of Instructor (non-track) may also be considered.

The Carver College of Medicine is part of a major research university and ranks 19th among public universities in NIH research funding. The Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center that collaborates closely with the College and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A particular strength of the program is a growing portfolio of investigator-initiated and phase I trials including many based-on research being conducted in University of Iowa laboratories. The hospital is one of the largest university-owned teaching hospitals in the United States and is adjacent to the Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The Division of Hematology-Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation has a broad mission, spanning benign and malignant hematology and solid tumor oncology. Division faculty leads more than 200 active clinical research trials at any given time for a wide range of cancers and blood disorders and operates Iowa’s only FACT-accredited bone marrow transplant unit. The division provides services at University of Iowa Health Care, the Iowa City VA Medical Center, and at several regional outreach sites in southeast Iowa.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

• Candidates must have an MD degree or equivalent.





• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program or equivalent successful completion of a residency program is required.

• Candidates will show evidence of a commitment to clinical teaching, clinical research, and patient care experience in medical oncology.





• Training and/or clinical experience in Lung Cancer is required.

• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa.





• Must be board certified or eligible for certification by the ABIM in Medical Oncology.

• Experience managing Lung Cancer trial portfolio in medical oncology.





• Nationally or internationally recognized clinical trial experience.





• Academic experience with extramural grants, clinical research collaborations, and/or training programs.
