Construction Project Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and commercially sound estimates for a range of construction projects. The successful candidate will assess project requirements, interpret drawings and specifications, and develop detailed cost plans that support effective tender submissions and project planning. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised professional who can combine strong technical knowledge with sound commercial judgement.


Key responsibilities will include reviewing tender documents, architectural and engineering drawings, scopes of work, and contract conditions; preparing detailed material, labour, plant, subcontractor, and overhead cost estimates; obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations; and identifying exclusions, assumptions, risks, and potential cost savings. You will maintain estimating records, prepare tender submissions, contribute to value-engineering exercises, and liaise with project managers, designers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to clarify requirements. The role will also involve monitoring market conditions, updating cost databases, supporting budgets and forecasts, and assisting with post-tender reviews and handovers to delivery teams.


Applicants should have proven experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a closely related commercial role, with a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices. The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and contract documentation is essential. You should be confident using estimating, take-off, spreadsheet, and project management software, with excellent numerical, analytical, and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are required. A relevant qualification in construction, quantity surveying, civil engineering, or a related discipline is desirable. You will be expected to work collaboratively, communicate clearly, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate a proactive approach to solving problems throughout the estimating process.
