Licensed Practical Nurse
This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information. Normal hospital/outpatient environment. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Exposed to electrical, biological and chemical hazards potential. Operates variety of equipment used - act machine, hemodialysis machine, bicarbonate mixer, crash cart, clamps, syringes with needles, fistula needles, reverse osmosis water treatment equipment, deionizing water treatment system. Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to or exceeding 75 pounds. Carrying up to 40 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to or exceeding 300 pounds.
Licensed practical nurse is responsible for therapeutic care of end stage renal disease patients. Works under direct supervision of registered nurse. Responsible for initiating, monitoring, terminating, and adjusting all hemodialysis treatments assigned to. Must conduct himself/herself in professional manner and dress appropriately. Works in the outpatient unit as well as the inpatient unit as needed.
