Summary Job title: IT System Administrator Job ID: null Department: Operations/IT Service Center Location: null-null Description Summary: Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED) is one of the largest electrical solutions and product distributors in the country. We are seeking a senior IT systems administrator to implement and maintain technological solutions to support CED’s internal and external users. The IT Operations team is responsible for the operation of the CED data centers, CED cloud platforms, and the IT infrastructure supporting our 700+ locations across the country. The successful candidate will have experience implementing and maintaining data center IT infrastructure and Microsoft technologies. CED is focused on finding the best talent as we continue to grow and build on the success that was started in 1957. The position will work with CED management, IT operations, software development groups, the IT help desk, and IT project managers to implement and maintain these IT systems and networks. Reports to: IT Operations Manager Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience will be considered. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in various IT engineering and operations disciplines including critical productions environments, server administration, virtualization, email administration, backup systems, monitoring and alerting systems, storage device management, desktop support, and Active Directory/identity management. Demonstrated knowledge of current cybersecurity principles, best practices, and evolving industry standards, with the ability to implement and support secure infrastructure solutions. Working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts including identity and access management, multi-factor authentication, endpoint and host-based security solutions, security information and event management, and vulnerability and risk management strategies. Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including end users, engineers, developers, vendors, and executive leadership. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to document technical procedures, create reports, and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for infrastructure incidents, outages, and maintenance activities. Willingness and ability to travel periodically to company offices, branch locations, and data centers as required. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including lifting equipment up to 25 pounds, climbing stairs, and remaining seated or standing for extended periods. Ability to perform effectively under pressure during critical incidents, service disruptions, and time-sensitive operational events. Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing, implementing, and supporting virtualized infrastructure and private, public, or hybrid cloud environments, including VMware, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience provisioning, configuring, and administering Microsoft server technologies, including web, application, and database server platforms. Experience identifying, assessing, and remediating security vulnerabilities, as well as implementing security controls and compliance frameworks. Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation to improve operational efficiency and system reliability. Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain documentation, create operational procedures, and effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience utilizing IT Service Management (ITSM) and ticketing platforms to manage incidents, service requests, problem resolution, and change‑control processes. Technical experience advantages: VMware, Windows Server, Fortinet, Cisco, Dell, Azure, AWS. Certification advantages: CompTIA Security+, CCNA, Microsoft, AWS. Working Conditions: Primarily office-based work environment with periodic travel to company facilities, remote locations, and data centers as needed. Requires occasional after-hours, weekend, and holiday work to support infrastructure maintenance, system upgrades, and emergency response activities. Participation in a shared on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical business systems and infrastructure services. Supervisory Responsibilities: No Essential Job Functions: Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Cybersecurity teams to design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise infrastructure solutions in accordance with established security, configuration, and operational standards. Partner with Cybersecurity and Operations personnel to identify, remediate, and mitigate infrastructure vulnerabilities while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Provision, deploy, configure, and maintain server, storage, network, cloud, and related infrastructure resources to meet business and application requirements. Administer and support enterprise systems to ensure high availability, performance, reliability, and security across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Perform day-to-day administration, monitoring, maintenance, patching, and lifecycle management of infrastructure hardware, operating systems, and supporting technologies. Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support by troubleshooting and resolving complex incidents, service requests, and infrastructure issues while maintaining accurate records within approved IT service management platforms. Develop, maintain, and optimize standardized server and workstation images, templates, configurations, and deployment processes. Execute and support business continuity, disaster recovery, backup, and restoration processes to ensure compliance with established recovery objectives and service level agreements (SLAs). Monitor infrastructure health, capacity, performance, and security events, proactively identifying and resolving risks before they impact business operations. Participate in infrastructure projects, technology refresh initiatives, system migrations, upgrades, and operational improvements. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation, including system configurations, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles. Assist IT leadership and senior engineering staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure standards, operational procedures, security controls, and governance policies. Participate in after-hours maintenance activities, incident response efforts, and on-call support rotations as required to support business operations.
