Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver-ACAND-Brighton, CO FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Athletic Director Work Hours/Days: This position requires availability generally Mondays thru Fridays in the late afternoons and evenings during the sports season Weekly Schedule: Winter Season (Late October-December) Practice/game days held during the school week Weekly hours will be approximately 10-12 hours Desired Start Date: October 19, 2026 Stipend Wage Range: $1,000.00 or higher based on coaching experience There will be a one-time payout upon the completion of your season Position Summary As head coach, you will assume the role of leader of student‑athletes and all associated staff. The Head Coach is expected to serve as the public face of the program, creating and maintaining a positive public image as a representative of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver. This position collaborates directly with and reports to the Athletic Director. Key Responsibilities Lead the basketball program, guiding athletes and assistant coaches with a vision that promotes development, growth, and competitiveness. Plan and implement all practices, training sessions, game strategies, and coaching of all student‑athletes. Understand and apply all rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport. Demonstrate proficient knowledge in the physical and mental training of competitive athletes and integrate sport strategies that elevate performance. Create and implement a safe, coherent, and effective training program focused on physical development. Develop visionary processes that sustain long‑term program success. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with staff, parents, students, media, and visitors. Oversee team safety through proper planning and policy management. Assist with program development as needed. Attend all in‑season, out‑of‑season practices, and all games. Be available for all CHSAA and league meetings as requested. Assist with equipment set‑up and take‑down for practices and games. Complete required training and submit documentation, including official college transcripts, within 90 days of hire. Maintain reliable attendance, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness. Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English to fulfill job responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Prefer a college degree; requires at least a high school diploma or GED. Previous high school or middle school coaching experience preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to collaborate with diverse groups. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. Complete all required coaching training before each sport season. Loyalty to the school's mission and vision. Commit to modeling moral character aligned with core virtues. Adhere to all ACACS policies and applicable school/board policies. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court. Mandatory Background Checks All candidates must undergo a comprehensive background check, including criminal records review and potential fingerprinting. Convictions for violent crimes, domestic violence, or offenses against children may disqualify a candidate. Drug‑related offenses involving distribution or trafficking of controlled substances may disqualify a candidate. Certain felony convictions, depending on nature and recency, may disqualify a candidate. History of certain misdemeanors that raise concerns may disqualify a candidate.
