Assistant Coach, Baseball

Job Title Assistant Coach, Baseball Location Austin, TX General Notes Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position is not suitable for remote work and requires regular on‑site hours. National and international travel is required. Purpose To assist the Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Baseball program and to achieve successful outcomes, including recruiting elite student‑athletes, training and coaching with the goal of contending for national and conference championships. Responsibilities Critically involved in all aspects of the program, sharing responsibilities with the Head Coach in recruiting, practice planning, player training and development, coordination of team play, and coaching tactics/strategies. Assist with recruiting, training, motivating, and developing elite student‑athletes, promoting their academic, personal, and social development. Provide high‑profile public relations and communication with a wide variety of institutional and sport constituencies. Assist in designing a competitive schedule to maximize team and individual performance. Lead and manage administration, logistics, support staff, and business functions, including budgeting of the Baseball program and scheduling travel logistics. Collaborate with athletics partners (compliance, student services, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, operations, external relations, human resources, and other units) to deliver a holistic student‑athlete experience. Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus. Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics, act ethically, and seek guidance when necessary. Participate in assigned education and training programs and comply with all applicable laws, policies, rules, and regulations. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. Successful experience as an assistant or head coach at an elite level. Experience coaching NCAA championship‑caliber student‑athletes. Ability to collaborate with staff and provide critical thinking and consultation to achieve positive outcomes. Professional demeanor and ability to project the image of the University of Texas and the Athletics Department with dignity and grace. Effective communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills to enhance interactions with student‑athletes, peers, alumni, administrative personnel, and the community. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success in recruiting elite student‑athletes. Experience as a student athlete in collegiate athletics.
