Medical Records Clerk

The Carolina Center for Behavioral Health is currently looking for a Medical Records Clerk to join our team of dedicated professionals. The Carolina Center is a 156-bed private behavioral health system located on 13 acres in the Greenville, South Carolina Area. Specializing in psychiatric programs and substance abuse treatments such as detox and rehab, The Carolina Center serves Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and areas throughout South Carolina and western North Carolina. Programs are available at various levels of care to accommodate the severity of every patient's condition: inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment.

Supports Medical Records Department through a variety of clerical, technical and related support services. Essential job functions include follow-up on hospital patient accounts, preparing physician billing accounts for refunds, preparing and writing-up cash for posting, entering adjustments through UHS bad debt system for approval, creating and maintaining patient account spreadsheets in Excel, preparing accounts for month end through Spool Explorer for bad debt accounts, following Self Pay Collections procedures by use of phone calls, data mailers and notification to support staff in a timely manner, transferring accounts deemed uncollectible to outside collection agencies, preparing hospital deposits through the Teller Scan system, identifying and processing approve adjustments, identifying and resolving problems within the department, preparing physician billing packets for FedEx delivery and pick-up, coordinating collection procedures with Business Office staff and supervisor, forwarding all necessary information to appropriate Business Office staff, preparing charts for patient discharge process, maintaining up-to-date filing on various components of the record, reviewing, evaluating and processing release of information requests as directed.

Qualifications: High School Degree or equivalent. Zero - One (0-1) year of experience required. Typing, clerical experience, filing, work organization, prioritization, time management skills, sound judgment and decision-making skills, office procedure skills, communication skills, office equipment experience, and experience in psychiatric facility helpful.
