About the College of Environmental Design The College of Environmental Design (ENV) connects people, placesand the environments in which we live, work and play. ENV offersundergraduate and graduate degrees in architecture, landscapearchitecture, urban and regional planning; undergraduate degreesvisual communication design and art history; and a graduate degreein regenerative studies. About the Department of Architecture The architecture program consists of a five-year curriculum focusedon the design laboratory. The studio sequence consists of foursegments: a three-year basic core, three-semester topic studios anda two-semester long culminating senior project. Lecture classes inArchitecture Theory and History, Human Behavior, ProfessionalPractice, Programming, Sustainability, Building Technology,Structures, Codes and Digital Media are closely coordinated withthe studio sequence, and students are expected to demonstrate theirknowledge of these areas in their design projects. Cal Poly Pomona department of architecture is a highly collegialand collaborative atmosphere with extremely focused and motivatedstudents. Most core studios are both team taught and individuallyled and are focused on providing a diverse array of learningenvironments for our students to thrive in. Our faculty supportsstudent groups and courses that highlight the polytechnicexperience and help feed the diversity of interests of our studentshelping to guide them in finding their place in theprofession. The Position The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions arefilled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on shortnotice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends inmid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends inmid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions mayalso be available. We welcome applications from individuals who areexperienced and student-centered to teach in the following subjectareas: Structures/ Building Systems Integration Architectural Mechanical Systems Foundational Architectural Design Studio Professional Architectural Practice Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses in the department's curriculum andserve weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.Assignments may include day, evening, and/or weekend courses. Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Architecture or relateddiscipline in the field relevant to the curriculum or relateddiscipline. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience in practice is preferred. Prior teaching experience at the college or university leveland ability to furnish evidence of strong teaching. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based onprofessional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are forone semester only. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthlybase salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of unitsworked and are paid in six monthly payments for each fullsemester. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank andplaced at the beginning of the range. Anticipated hiring rangedepending on qualifications, not to exceed $6,221 per month. As ofJuly 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respectiveranks are: Lecturer A: $5,507 - $ 6,677 Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 The CSU system offers a competitive total compensation benefitspackage for employees and qualifying dependents, including medical,dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance.
