Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM, 3 shifts per week, 36 scheduled hours.

Start Date: 08/31/2026, End Date: 11/30/2026, Duration: 13 weeks.

Shift: Day, 3x12-hour (06:45 - 19:15).

Description: Please ensure traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team" where there will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed on each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your travel contract to take a position with Ochsner Health, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event were to occur. You should not apply for a role at Ochsner Health if you are not comfortable with the above.

Unit Highlights: First-time travelers welcome, 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, Epic experience required, Float requirement, Weekend coverage - every other.

Patient Population: Hematology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), Gynecologic & Surgical Oncology.

Unit Details: 7-bed positive pressure wing for BMT and acute leukemia patients. Bedside CVC placements and bone marrow biopsies. Equipment: Alaris IV pumps (Epic-integrated), Barcode medication administration, SCD machines, Alaris feeding pumps.

Certifications: Required: BLS, ACLS. Preferred: ONS.

Facility & Patient Care Details: Patient age groups: Adults. Daily census: 28. Number of rooms: 29. Number of beds: 29.

Interdisciplinary Support: IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, Unit Secretary.

Patient Diagnoses: Cancer diagnosis and treatment. Hematology, medical oncology, bone marrow transplant, gynecology-oncology surgical patients.

Special Procedures/Unit Details: Chemotherapy infusion. Bone Marrow Transplant. Med/Surg experience required. 7 beds are part of a positive pressure wing and is where our Bone Marrow Transplant patients and severe leukemic patients.

Special Equipment: Alaris IV pumps with intraoperability - integrated with EPIC. Barcode Scanning for patients and meds. SCD machine. Alaris Feeding Pump.

Travel Compliance: Facility does not accept local travelers. Must be over 65 miles (address on driver's license to site address). Must have 2 years experience in specialty for all locations. (New Orleans operating room req. 3 years). NO CALL IN! RTO must be on profile and brought up in the interview or there is a high chance offer's will be rescinded. Compact or LA license in hand upon submittal. Allied Candidates booked with pending license - Candidate must apply for Allied Health licensure within 72 hours of signing. Orientation held 5 days a week. References: Not required for submission, however 2 Manager/Supervisor references will be required to obtain clearance to start contract. Recruiter, please obtain Manager/Supervisor contact information prior to submission. Charge RNs are NOT acceptable. PDF format AHA certifications are required. AWHONN Intermediate is required for L&D RN. CPI required for all CNA. ER nurses must have CPI, or be able to get it before start. This cert is somewhat difficult to get, so please be prepared for this. NURSYS Reports for RNs must be sent with profile. Please ensure that the NURSYS is up to date (within 4 weeks of submission date). Resources who worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from Ochsner Health System for 1 full year before they can return as travel.
