Hearing Screen Technician

In this position you will work on-site at one or more hospital locations to screen newborns for hearing loss. The Newborn Hearing Screening Technician performs mandated hearing screening tests for newborn infants, provides education to parents pertaining to the relevance of hearing screening and early intervention, and records patient information and hearing screen results. The screener is responsible to conduct these hearing screening tests prior to patient discharge supporting patient care goals and objectives. This part-time position is based in a busy Newborn Nursery / NICU hospital setting. You need great communication skills as well as the interest and ability to learn; we will provide you with the rest of the training you need to succeed. On a typical day, you will conduct newborn hearing screens, usually in a new mom’s hospital room, and help educate parents about the importance of the screen using tools we provide. You will also be in charge of entering patient data and validation of hearing screens, as needed. Additional responsibilities may include helping to confirm or reschedule outpatient appointments, following up on any equipment issues and training new staff.
