8/18/2025 - Assistant Budget Examiner – Finance Department, Budget Division – Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000 Assistant Budget Examiner Finance Department, Budget Division Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000 Duties: Under the direction of the County CFO/Treasurer & Comptroller: Budget: In conjunction with the CFO & Comptroller, prepares, processes and monitors the budget; posts budgets to NJ FAST; processes expense/revenue reclassifications and budget modifications; prepares and files Budget Amendment Resolutions; analyzes the capital budget; coordinates Bond Ordinances, resolutions and advertisements with Bond Counsel; creates appropriation accounts and distributes periodic reports; reviews certification of funds for commissioner meetings; maintains and reconciles the fixed asset ledger. Grants: Compiles grant budget with supporting documentation; processes amendments; creates, monitors and closes appropriations and revenues; verifies reimbursement vouchers against expenses; monitors receipts/receivables; processes online reimbursements; reviews and processes reports; assists Departments in preparing grant applications and financial reports; regularly utilizes grant portals; posts grant budgets to NJ FAST. Purchasing: Monitors procurement processes to ensure compliance with county policies and state & federal laws/regulations, including implications for grant applications and planning. Accounts Payable: Processes payments for certain transactions not directly assigned to other county personnel; resolves workflow issues within and outside the County Finance Department. Requirements: The ability to balance multiple tasks in a demanding environment. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a directly related field is required. CMFO/CCFO or CPA/RMA preferred; QPA/RPPO is a plus. At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience is required. Technical proficiency in software applications including Office 365 (OneDrive, Teams and Office Apps) and accounting/bookkeeping systems (Edmunds GovTech preferred) and internet portals. Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All employment offers are contingent upon the satisfactory completion of physical fitness testing, including drug screen.
