Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Anesthesiology

Description

This contract,on-site position offers an outstanding opportunity for an Associate-level anesthesiologist to deliver high-quality patient care while working in a collaborative clinical environment.

As a Locum Anesthesiology Physician, you will be responsible for providing safe and effective anesthesia care across a variety of surgical and diagnostic procedures. Working on-site alongside surgeons, nurses, and other medical professionals, you will contribute to positive patient outcomes, efficient perioperative operations, 

 

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments to evaluate patient anesthesia risks and needs.
• Develop individualized anesthesia care plans tailored to each patient’s medical status and procedure requirements.
• Administer general, regional, monitored anesthesia care, and sedation techniques as clinically indicated.
• Monitor patient vital signs, anesthesia depth, and overall status throughout surgical and diagnostic procedures.
• Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies, adjusting anesthesia management to maintain patient stability.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and healthcare teams to ensure safe and coordinated patient care.
• Document anesthesia interventions, medications, dosages, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly.
• Provide postoperative pain management recommendations and support in the recovery period.
• Adhere strictly to infection control, safety, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, or caregivers regarding anesthesia procedures, risks, and expectations.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
• Board certification or active board eligibility in Anesthesiology.
• Current, unrestricted state medical license as required for the practice location.
• Current DEA registration or controlled substance registration, as applicable.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, as required by the position.
• Associate-level experience in anesthesiology practice, including perioperative patient management.
• Strong knowledge of anesthetic agents, techniques, monitoring, and safety protocols.
• Excellent clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site clinical environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Level II and Level III Trauma Centers functioning as a Level I

Schedule: 7a-7p, 3 days/week

Night and weekend call

Case Types: Cardiac, ENT, GI, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics, pulmonary, general surgery, urology, bariatrics

Will supervise CRNAs, but mainly solo cases

Support Staff: Care team model

EMR: Epic

TEE certification required

Must be board-certified or board-eligible
