Position TitleSecurity Observation Officer - PRNOlathe HospitalPosition Summary / Career Interest:The Security Observation Officers provides continuous one-on-one monitoring of patients who are at risk of harming themselves or others. The role focuses on maintaining patient safety, preventing injury, and promptly reporting behavioral or medical changes to clinical staff.Responsibilities and Essential Job FunctionsMaintain uninterrupted observation of assigned patients to ensure a safe environmentRegulate access to patient care areas, screening visitors and their belongings for potential hazardsRemove potentially harmful objects and maintain a secure setting for patients under extended careSupport and protect medical staff in situations where a patient poses a risk to themselves or othersStay alert to patient behaviors, particularly during late-night or low-activity periodsEnsure property removal complies with policies and proceduresAdhere to company policies and report any incidents immediatelyNotify clinical staff, chain of command, and Hospital Management of behavioral escalations or location changes; assist with patient restraints only as a last resort, prioritizing safety and dignityProvide courteous, respectful interactions with employees, patients, and visitors, presenting a professional image of the client and security team.Prepare logs, reports, and documentation using clear grammar and professional standardsMust be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.These statements are intended to describe the essential functions of the job and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.
