Position Overview

The Resident Transportation Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical appointments and other approved destinations. This position also assists ambulatory and wheelchair-dependent residents with entering and exiting the vehicle safely and comfortably.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport residents to medical appointments and other scheduled destinations

• Assist residents with entering and exiting the transportation vehicle

• Properly secure wheelchairs and other mobility equipment

• Monitor resident safety and comfort throughout transportation

• Communicate with nursing staff regarding schedules, appointments, and resident needs

• Maintain accurate transportation records

• Keep the vehicle clean, organized, fueled, and ready for use

• Report vehicle concerns or safety issues promptly

• Follow all facility policies, traffic laws, and resident confidentiality requirements

• Provide courteous and respectful assistance to residents, families, and healthcare providers

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license

• Acceptable driving record

• Current CPR certification required

• Active CNA license preferred, but not required

• Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities preferred

• Ability to safely assist residents who use wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices

• Dependable, professional, patient, and compassionate

• Must meet all applicable employment, background-check, and facility requirements
