Position:  Distribution Line Engineer / Coordinator

Location:  Fort Wayne, IN 46802  

Duration: 12+ Month Contract with extension or Possibility of conversion.  

Top skills, experience:
1. Distribution Line experience, understand equipment
2. Proficient with computers.  Will use several different systems to create the jobs and send out the crews.  Experience with iPads/tablet.  
3. Collaborative, work with group and business partners.

Must have: Line distribution or line experience, understand equipment and how things work.  Comfortable with computers, lots of computer work.  Will review data and determine where to send crews for issue correction.  Going out in field to check on work, confirm work is done correctly.  Must be able to troubleshoot.  Previous utility experience is preferred.  

Manage or oversee two-man business crews.  Each district has six two-man bucket crews.  Identify work and where crews need to go.  Will go out into the field 20%, typically four field visits per month.  

• Will submit expenses for fuel and vehicle rental.
• No overnight travel.

Job Summary:
In support of the I&M strategic mission toward the client's Perfect Power Initiative and under minimal supervision, this role performs work activities requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. Perfect Power is centered on improving the customer experience by reducing frequent power interruptions and delivering a more reliable service. While traditional reliability efforts have focused on sustained outages, Perfect Power expands that view to include shorter-duration events-such as momentaries, blinks, and voltage sags-that can still impact customers significantly. By identifying and addressing these brief but frequent disruptions, Perfect Power enables a more comprehensive approach to reliability, helping ensure customers receive consistent, high-quality power.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Coordinate work activities of others within work group, team or those external to the company including contractors, vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
2) Perform varied assignments demonstrating technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solution of problems or analysis.
3) Participate in the planning and organization of outage/project work activities.
4) Make decisions and contribute to team decision making and consensus building.
5) Work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
6) Provide training and guidance to lower level employees as appropriate.
7) Pursue effective ways to protect and enhance the environment while providing reliable electricity at a competitive cost.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Physical demand level is Sedentary
• Two of the Five days 20%-30% will be traveling to job sites for the MI District.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Listen and identify customer needs/wants.
• Effectively communicate with team, management, customers, contractors, vendors and regulatory agencies.
• Knowledge of client's general terms and conditions and the experience and ability to correctly interpret and administer contracts. Apply problem solving skills to resolve technical problems and initiate solution techniques.
• Demonstrate an attitude and desire to listen to and satisfy both internal and external customers who use and depend upon our work.

Minimum Requirements

• Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college or an associate's technical degree and 3 years of experience in design, operations, planning, construction or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
• Work Experience: Typically requires a minimum of three years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge.
