Unit Notes
**CHOMP is a NICOTINE-FREE facility - all drug reports must have a negative result for nicotine/cotinine. If tested positive, will submit for review if traveler has been prescribed a nicotine patch. For all reports with no legitimate reason for positive nicotine/cotinine, the contract will be cancelled.

*test given upon arrival to unit- information/ study guides sent via panda docs with placement

While there are nurse aides, any nurse may be responsible for Total patient care

**ALL RTO needs to be in at the time of submission. NO RTO will be approved after candidate is presented to facility.

Unit OR
# suites 6 OR suites, 2 cardiac suites (travelers do not work cardiac), also have short stay but travelers do not work here
# of cases per day 20-25
Required Certifications BLS; ACLS is preferred. CST is preferred for scrub techs
Common Cases A lot of total joints including knees, shoulders, hips; Robotics-XI, Urology, GYN, General, plastics; neuro including spinal & seldom crani's, general, urology - all done in main OR & not OP, a little ENT
Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have at least 2 years' experience or more in specialty or must have experience in larger facility with a lot of spine. Prefer travel experience.
Scrubbing required - RN's Prefer scrubbing - Perm RN's scrub
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor M-F - manager, Charge each shift
OR techs Yes - 4-5 on day shift, 2 for evening, & 1 for night shift
EMR Epic
Shifts & Scheduling Travelers need to be flexible with schedules. May be asked to change schedule daily depending on needs & cases. 10Hr shifts; 6:30-5, 7AM-530PM, 1-1130PM, 11AM-930PM,
Weeknight/Call Requirement Rare but hours are 2300-0700 M-F. They have a regular RN taking all the weekday call, so unless they are on vacation or LOA, there is no night call. Sign up for weekend call, usually about 1 weekend a month.
Weekend/Call Requirement Rotating, they have regular weekend staffing, but they still have to backfill with call if one of the regular staff is on vacation. Weekend call 0700-1730 for Sat & Sun. You would be on call by yourself. They typically do not allow you to be on call until you have been in the position for some time and feel comfortable.
