This role is well suited for a curious and motivated accountant who enjoys solving problems, investigating complex accounting issues, and helping develop scalable processes in an evolving finance environment.Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will work across multiple areas of the accounting function and partner closely with Finance and other internal stakeholders. The role offers broad exposure to accounting operations and the opportunity to take increasing ownership as processes continue to develop and improve.RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and aged balances, identify root causes, and drive items through resolutionSupport the monthly close through preparation and review of journal entries, account analysis, accruals, reclassifications, and other close activities. Investigate accounting discrepancies by analyzing general ledger activity, supporting documentation, system data, and underlying business processes.Partner with the Senior Accounting Manager to document, develop, and improve accounting processes and internal controls, with an emphasis on reducing manual activities and creating scalable workflows.Take ownership of assigned accounting processes and proactively identify issues, risks, and opportunities for improvement.Assist with accounting and reporting activities associated with Eataly’s ERP environment and ongoing process transformation.Collaborate with FP&A, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to resolve accounting matters and improve financial reporting.Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to requests, and providing explanations of accounting processes and balances.Assist with sales and local tax accounting and related reconciliations, as applicable.Maintain clear documentation of accounting procedures, reconciliations, and controls.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and financial statement concepts.Experience preparing or reviewing balance sheet reconciliations preferred.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and reach well-supported conclusions.Comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes may not always be fully documented or standardized.Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to ask questions and challenge existing processes constructively.Strong Excel skills and interest in using technology to improve accounting processes.Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferredAnnual Salary Range: $95,000-$105,000Additional InformationBenefits and PerksMedical, Dental, Vision InsurancePaid Time OffPaid Parental Leave401K with match or RRSPBonus programFree family meal dailyDiscounts at EatalyClasses on products and Italian cuisineReferral bonus programand more!Eataly is an equal employment opportunity employer.
