Job Description Direct Support Professionals in this role serve individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Candidates must be available to work at least one weekend per month. Start Rate: $15.00/hour. 1st or 2nd Shift – Part Time (16-20 Hours/week) between 8 AM – 6 PM. Individuals in this position shall aim to assist clients in leading a safe and meaningful lifestyle through community integration, and in gaining independence with day-to-day activities through skills training activities and goal‑related activities. This individual must be able to work with clients in home-based settings as well as in the community. Day‑to‑day activities include in‑home care of 1–4 individuals (promoting independence in the home: hygiene care, preparing meals, and basic upkeep of the home) and one‑on‑one activities in the community (assisting clients in increasing community integration by providing assistance with grocery shopping, attending medical appointments, sporting events or concerts in the park). Qualifications Must possess a high level of patience and tolerance, and the desire to assist others to reach their potential. Ability to work as a team member and take direction in order for the team to accomplish goals and objectives. Complete all annual tests and trainings including but not limited to TB test or chest x‑ray, SCM, CPR, First Aid, and BBP Certifications, Core A/B, ISP/PCP, Incident Reporting, Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation, Documentation, and Transportation. Must possess a valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance coverage per company policy, and have a reliable vehicle for transportation of clients. Experience with adults with developmental disabilities or functional impairments. High School Diploma or GED required. One‑year experience preferred with individuals that have developmental disabilities and/or functional impairments. Physical Requirements Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. Must occasionally lift and assist a client consistently (e.g. bathroom, floor) and be able to lift 50–100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and distance vision.
