A construction business development job involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and developing strategies to drive revenue growth.
Key responsibilities include market research, sales presentations, contract negotiation, and collaborating with internal teams to secure and deliver new projects. This role requires strong networking, sales, and analytical skills.

Core responsibilities

Lead generation: Identify and generate new business opportunities through strategies like cold calling, networking, and leveraging existing relationships.
Client relationship management: Build, maintain, and grow relationships with new and existing clients to ensure satisfaction and identify new needs.
Market analysis: Conduct market research to identify industry trends, competitive activity, and potential projects.
Strategy development: Develop and implement strategic sales plans, marketing initiatives, and business proposals to achieve sales targets and increase revenue.
Sales and negotiation: Prepare and deliver sales presentations, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
Collaboration: Work with internal teams, such as project managers and estimators, to ensure successful project acquisition and delivery.
Reporting: Monitor and report on sales performance, market conditions, and the sales pipeline status.

Key skills and qualifications

Strong networking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven sales and negotiation experience.
Ability to analyze market data and develop strategic plans.
Experience with proposal development and contract negotiation.
Familiarity with CRM software for tracking leads and client interactions.
Professional presentation skills.
