Jackson and Coker is urgently seeking a skilled Thoracic Surgeon for a high-volume, fast-paced Level I Trauma network in a large Kentucky metro area. This locum tenens opportunity, expected to start in August 2026, offers a dynamic clinical environment providing comprehensive thoracic surgical care across multiple acute care facilities. The role involves a mix of clinic, operating room, and inpatient settings, focusing on adult patients. Practice Info Patient Mix: 100% Adult Settings: Inpatient, Operating Room, and Clinic EMR System: EPIC Procedures: Comprehensive thoracic surgical care; most procedures involve VATS and DATS Support Staff: Dedicated Oncology RN Navigator for clinics, plus 3 NPs, 3 MAs, and 1 CSA (shared with the Cardiac team) Benefits ~ Top-rated malpractice insurance ~ Full-service in-house travel agency and credentialing coordinators ~24/7 recruiter availability Shift & Schedule Start Date: August 10, 2026 (expected through November, with potential to extend) Clinic Coverage: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Call Rotation: Night call and 24-hour call every other week/weekend Night Call: 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM (Nurse Practitioners take first call on weeknights) Weekend Call: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (Includes morning rounding, followed by pager call) Shifts Available: Day Shift, Night Call, and 24-Hour Call Requirements Degree: MD/DO Board Status: Board Certified or Board Eligible Certifications: ACLS Required Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience Level I trauma experience is strongly preferred Licensure: Active Kentucky medical license required to apply Privileging: Temporary privileges are available
