Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical (Telemetry)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for a medical/surgical telemetry unit. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on exemplary customer service and adherence to best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Monitor and administer telemetry as part of patient evaluations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with hand hygiene standards.
• Participate in weekend rotations, contributing to team efforts and patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required. First-time travelers are welcome.
• Certifications: Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), NIH Stroke Scale, IV Start, and Telemetry certifications are required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in telemetry monitoring and patient care protocols.
• Compliance: Must maintain a hand hygiene compliance rate of 75%.

Unit Information

This unit is a 40-bed medical-surgical floor with a strong emphasis on bariatric and orthopedic patient care. The unit endeavors to create an environment that promotes the mission and values of healthcare.

Work Environment

• Patient Ratios: Target ratios of 1:5-7, which may fluctuate based on unit needs.
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Float Requirement: Yes, flexibility is expected.
• Weekend Requirement: Commitment to 2-3 weekends in a 6-week schedule.

Orientation and Training

The orientation period consists of 36 hours of training. Travelers must be available for the full week of hospital orientation.

Scrubs Policy

Travelers are responsible for providing their own scrubs. Acceptable colors include navy, white, or a combination thereof.
