Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse with experience in Obstetrics to join our team. This position requires the ability to provide comprehensive nursing care in various settings within the Women's Center, including labor and delivery, postpartum, and special care nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for maternal and newborn health and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in OB triage, labor & delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including well-newborn and special care nursery (Level 1 and Level 2).
• Perform procedures such as intravenous therapy, administration of antibiotics, and short-term respiratory support (CPAP or O2) for newborns.
• Assist during vaginal deliveries and provide immediate care and resuscitation for newborns.
• Utilize EPIC computer charting and OBIX for fetal monitoring and patient documentation.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest standards of patient care.

Shift Information

This position requires night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM, with rotating weekend shifts. The nurse will work 36 hours per week and is expected to cover two out of three weekends, providing flexibility in scheduling options.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Obstetrics.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Ability to interpret fetal monitor strips and provide appropriate nursing interventions during labor and delivery.

Clinical Environment

The Women's Center consists of a 12-bed unit, including 2 triage rooms, 5 labor/delivery/recovery/ postpartum (LDRP) rooms, and 5 overflow postpartum/GYN surgical rooms. The nursing ratio is designed to facilitate optimal care with 1:2-3 mom/baby couplets, 1:2 for early labor, 1:1 for active labor, and 1:3 for post-operative patients.

Training and Orientation

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation program, consisting of a safety checklist, competency skills training related to equipment, andOne Chart training. This program typically lasts 2-3 days, depending on individual experience levels.

Dress Code

Hospital-provided navy blue scrubs must be worn during all shifts. Employees are required to badge in and out upon entering or exiting the facility.

Additional Notes

Two OB-trained staff members will be present in-house at all times, ensuring a collaborative and supportive work environment. Flexibility in coverage and possible floating to General Medical units may occur based on the census in OB.
