Sr. Accountant

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing accurate financial reports to maintain reliable records of the organization's financial activities. This role performs a variety of complex general accounting functions, including financial analysis, account reconciliations, and reporting to support sound financial management and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The Senior Accountant works closely with finance and operational teams to ensure the integrity of financial data, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and provide insights that help guide informed business decisions.

• Planning •
- Provide operational level into the preparation of mine planning budgets and forecasts.
• Operational/Technical Execution •
- Schedule, coordinate and conduct a monthly financial review meeting with each department, reporting actual against budget and reviewing variances and corrective actions.
- Analyze data and assist and advise senior managers with their planning and strategizing, analyzing and explaining actual performance against budget and forecast.
- Generate monthly headcount actual to budget variance report and prepare forecast roll.
- Responsible for the capital accounting processes and activities, including capital spend and fixed assets, all entity accounting.
- Complete the Gold Bar Dashboard monthly.
- Generate end of month purchasing reports and reconciliation.
- Ensure that Gold Bar month end reports from site mining and site process are received and saved.
- Review and submit cost reviews and reports as required.
- Review all balance sheet accounts.
- Review all monthly journal entries as required.
- Prepare activity reports and financial forecasts.
- Review monthly bank reconciliations, ore inventory, depletion, depreciation, and Intercompany reconciliations.
- Track and monitor project spend, and report variances as required.
• Administration and Controls •
- Active participation in staff meetings.
- Carry out routine administration and reporting.
• Cross-Functional Relationships •
- All departments: Assist managers with forecasting and budgeting, maintain sound cross functional relationships.
- Staffing: in consultation with the HR department, authority to hire appropriate staff to ensure skills and capability for the Section.
• Discretionary Work •
- Analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations and provide the department with relevant information.
- Identify opportunities for improvement across the department and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Carry out other non-core duties as requested by the Controller or Gold Bar General Manager, commensurate with skills, knowledge, and appropriate level of complexity.
- Will be required to work extra hours to complete month end closeout.

Qualifications:


- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience as an accountant (mine-site accounting, including fixed asset knowledge required.
- Experience with large databases on Microsoft Excel is required.
- Experience with advanced financial software.
- Valid driver's license.
- Advanced level knowledge of accounting practices.
- Advanced level user of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficient in computer systems related to this role and level of work including Microsoft and Dynamics Great Plains.
- Use of logic and reason to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Knowledge of all company policy and procedures relating to this area of work.
- Knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental standards and requirements relevant to this area of work.

Work Environments/Physical Demands:

- Occasional travel to remote sites / Corporate.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with all the accounting team members.
- Long hours of sitting and/or standing.
- Work regularly on repetitive tasks.
- Push, pull, lift at least 25lbs is required.
- Frequent bending.
