Grain Elevator Laborer – Cleaning, Loading & Grain Testing

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and physically capable Grain Elevator Laborer to assist with grain handling, truck and railcar loading/unloading, cleaning, grain testing, and general elevator operations. This is a hands-on position that requires frequent climbing, lifting, walking, and working at significant heights.

Key Responsibilities

• Check grain elevator levels each morning and measure product height.
• Load and unload trucks and railcars.
• Climb on top of railcars when required; employees will be provided with and required to use safety harnesses.
• Clean and maintain grain bins and work areas by sweeping, dusting with a foxtail duster, and shoveling grain spills.
• Operate truck scales and assist with weighing and unloading grain.
• Pull grain samples using a probe and perform basic grain quality testing.
• Use basic tools and equipment, including air hammers, torches, spray-paint equipment, dockage testers, and hand tools.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform other general labor duties as needed.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

• Must not be afraid of heights .
• Grain bins can reach approximately 103 feet tall , and employees may be required to climb and work on elevated catwalks.
• Must be comfortable regularly climbing and walking at elevated heights.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces.
• Must be comfortable working in a dusty grain environment.
• Must not have allergies to grain or grain dust.
• Must frequently lift and move 50–100 pounds .
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, shovel, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Must be aware of hazards associated with heights, slipping, machinery, and grain handling.
• This is a very physical position requiring daily physical activity.
