Staff Archaeologist

Description Location: Alexandria, MN (preferred) - consideration may be given to other office locations. Candidates should be willing to work on-site to support collaboration, teamwork, and knowledge sharing. Widseth is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Archaeologist to support both office-based and field projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and right-of-way specialists to address environmental and cultural resource considerations. Coordinate with federal and state agencies to ensure compliance with permitting requirements. Conduct a range of field activities, including: Archaeological surveys Testing and excavation Surface collection Monitoring Prepare archaeological proposals and technical reports, including Phase I/Class I documentation. Provide professional cultural resource recommendations to support project planning. Plan, organize, and lead Phase III/Class III field projects of varying sizes across multiple states. Qualifications Master's degree in Archaeology or a related field. Archaeological field experience preferred. Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online for fieldwork and data management. Experience with federal and state cultural resource permitting. Familiarity with GPS equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Work Environment This position requires: Working outdoors in remote locations for extended periods. Navigating rugged terrain in varying weather conditions. Maintaining strong awareness of workplace safety. Working independently or with minimal supervision when appropriate.
